It’s such a pleasant suprise to see a recent print edition passing through the @ottoframing_ workshop. I’ve long admired the way they skilfully manipulate natural woods in such a tasteful manner.
The first two batches of this print have sold out but I will be doing one final run in the new year if anyone missed out.

Really pleased with a new batch of prints that have just come into the studio. Each run is limited to 30, printed onto Hahnemühle german etching paper and then signed off by yours truly. Print measurement is roughly 38 x 48cm.
Message me or head over to my shop to get your hands on one! Link in bio

Another milestone in the Baronial Hall murals for The Birnam Hotel. And another black & white teaser until this painting has it’s turn on the wall next winter.
I had the pleasure of painting this winter landscape in my studio in Braemar. I stretched and nailed it to a movable wall I had built a few months back and it just about missed the light fixtures as I wheeled it across the room.
One thing for sure about these paintings is that the challenge remains just as great from one to the next. Any confidence or feelings of certainty gained from the previous experience quickly disappears as the next iteration is stretched and primed. The first drawings must be made. And the first colour has to be mixed. A good soundtrack does help though.

A wonderful surprise to see my butt in latest issue of @hiddenscotland captured wonderfully by @alexrmartin . A publication I always enjoy reading. This one gives a sneak peak behind the veil of the @birnamhotel restoration

A set of books I very recently inherited from my Grandad. Although we’ve spoken at length about his career as a scenic artist and sign writer I hadn’t realised he had also been to art school as a young un. In those days you’d attend art school to study courses such as decorative finishes, back when painting and decorating was considered a highly skilled craft.
These books aided his studies and reading through the vast amount of techniques and skills that were passed along to those painting as a trade, is truly impressive. They don’t make them like they used to
